Update on my Hair Journey

It's been a while since I updated my hair journey! You can see the color and length are much different!

It has been almost 3 months since my last trim and highlights. I'm to the point now of just getting a trim, no more color!! Since I'll be growing out the highlights and color, I won't let it grow too much longer. At some point I'll cut it up to my shoulders and keep cutting off the old color.

How to Keep Your Sterling Silver Jewelry Shiny and Clean

silica-gel-packets.jpg

Silica Gel

You've seen this packets before. You probably found a couple in the last purse or tote that you bought. Why are they in that purse? To absorb moisture, preventing mold and mildew during shipping and storage.

Put a couple of these little packets in your jewelry box!

Moisture + Oxygen = TARNISH

It's a fact that sterling silver tarnishes.

Did you know that our body composition can affect the rate of tarnish?

For instance, if you have dry skin, your necklace may not tarnish for several months. Whereas a person with oily skin could see a significant change in the silver in just a few weeks.

Jewelry Wipes

So what do you do when your sterling silver starts to dull? These jewelry wipes are great for quick touch-ups! You can find them near the jewelry counter at your local chain grocery store.

What Else Can You Do?

A few more tips to keep your sterling silver jewelry shiny and new:

1. Keep it in a plastic zipper bag or in a jewelry box.
2. Don't leave it exposed to humidity (such as in your bathroom.) (I may be guilty of this!)
3. WEAR IT! The friction of the jewelry on your skin and clothes will help clean it!

I hope these tips help you keep your jewelry shiny and clean so that you can wear it for many years!

New Family Necklace

Yesterday I had an idea for a necklace. Rather than sketching it out, I went to my work bench and stamped it out. It got a lot of great comments on Facebook, so today I took some new photos and put it up in my shop

The necklace is a 1" sterling silver charm on a sterling silver ball chain. I use a 1mm thick charm so it won't bend or break. This necklace will last a long time! Fit up to 5 names around the edge and your family initial in the middle.

It has an introductory price of $49 (good thru November 15). I'm also considering a pewter version that will be on a stainless steel ball chain.
