It was cold here today. And I had some ham that needed to used soon. I also had beans on hand, canned and dry. What would you do? Yup, to Pinterest I went!
After a quick search and reading a few recipes, I started to see a common element. They were using dry beans in the crockpot. Could it really be that easy? I've tried several Pinterest recipes with success, and a few stinkers.
I did what the recipe said with a few modifications. After 3 hours, I checked the beans and they were no longer little stones! It was working!
An hour later, it was done. I was a little shocked at how easy it was and how good it tasted!
Here's my recipe:
- 1 lb dry Great Northern Beans
- 1lb. chopped up ham
- 4 cups chicken stock
- 2 cups water
- 2 tsp onion powder
5-6 hours on High or 8-10 hours on Low. I have an awesome crockpot and it only took about 4 hours on High.
Enjoy! Let me know if you try it!
